  • Singer-songwriter Amy Wadge had a jury’s verdict tattooed on her arm after she and Ed Sheeran were victorious in a copyright trial over the track 'Thinking Out Loud'. Ms Wadge, who is based in Wales, co-wrote the song with Sheeran, her friend of 17 years. A court in New York ruled the pair had not copied Marvin Gaye’s 'Let’s Get It On', despite claims from heirs of Gaye's co-writer. The tattoo reads "independently created"in a typewriter font..

  • Tower of Power played a California prison with former lead singer Rick Stevens, who had served 36 years for a 1976 drug-related triple homicide. A jury voted for his execution, but the California Supreme Court ruled not long afterward that the death penalty was unconstitutional.   • High-Rise is released.   • Lifeless Planet: Premier Edition for Xbox One is released. Lifeless Planet is a new 3D PC action adventure, independently developed by David Board and Alaska-based Stage 2 Studios and to be published world-wide by Lace Mamba Global in Q4 2012. The game puts players in the moon-boots of a volunteer astronaut on a one-way mission to a life-bearing planet far outside our solar system.
